Wn260 Veilchen
Anti-aircraft gun batterie with wide variety of bunkers
Wn260 Veilchen site overview
What to see
An anti-aircraft gun batterie with a wide variety of bunker types for supporting the AA guns located near Outreau on the southern outskirts of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Here you can see evidence of a L412a command bunker, although the entrance is now blocked to the large underground structure, plus a L409 for a 2cm or 3.7cm gun, an upgraded, multi-roomed L409a, and larger L410 type emplacement, both designed for 3.7cm AA guns.
The gun emplacements are flanked to the north and west of the site by two searchlight bunkers. The northern L411 position was built for a 60cm light while the western construction is a much L430a type which featured a garage for a 200cm searchlight plus rooms for a generator, fuel storage, and a crew room.
Next to it stands a R621 group shelter, a small personnel building, and an open emplacement for an AA gun.
All the buildings at the site are overgrown and on private farmland so can’t be accessed without permission.
