Stp Aster
Small defensive position and personnel shelter
Stp Aster site overview
What to see
Another site near to the France Belgium border named after a flower, Stp Aster could easily be missed as it stands in dune scrubland between the main D60 road and a large camping site.
The German bunker sites near to the France-Belgium border are all named after flowers and begin with the letter ‘A’ – the further west you travel the site names work their way down the alphabet, changing to boys’ and girls’ names to animals and German cities as you pass to the west of Calais.
There were three builds here at this Bray Dunes site – an open emplacement for a heavy gun, a large storage bunker, and a Vf2a personnel shelter.
The storage bunker is now the foundation for a large cross and memorial to sailors lost at sea. The memorial and remaining buildings are located inside a nature reserve so please stick to the paths if visiting.
