Stp Norbert
Heavy artillery complex with lots of personnel buildings left to see
Stp Norbert site overview
What to see
Located on the D119 Route de Waldam between Calais and Dunkirk, Stp Norbert is an extensive site with many remaining structures, although some are now hidden by woodland and farm buildings.
The most numerous to be found are the Wellblech personnel shelters with at least 11 built here with over half still visible from the side of the road.
But this site wasn’t without its firepower either, with five large open emplacements for captured French guns of 15.5cm standing at the east side and offering a second line of defence behind the beach strongpoints – MG pillbox sites Wn Naumburg and Wn Nanni - just over 1km in front.
Protecting Norbert were a double stand for a field gun to the west, a centrally located open emplacement for a 5cm KwK anti-tank gun, and a 2cm anti-aircraft gun position to the east of the buildings.
