Wn177 Lautenschlag
Hilltop observation site near Cap Gris Nez batteries

Wn177 Lautenschlag site overview

What to see
Wn177 Lautenschlag lies to the east of Batterie Grosser Kurfurst between Framezelle and Tardinghen and for a small Widerstandsnest it certainly boasted a lot of concrete.
There are three observation bunkers here – not surprising given its raised location with open beaches to the north – and these would have been part of the network of communications which linked the batteries in the area while offering defence from any attack from the east.
That defence would have come from a 75mm field gun inside the R612 casemate located here and facing east. This casemate is surrounded by three R668 six-man bunkers and a larger personnel shelter.
Access is with permission only as this site stands on private property and farmland.
