Wn59 Ste-Honorine-des-Pertes
Small emplacement and Hollywood movie location
Wn59 site overview
What to see
This tiny village played a big part in one of the most famous D-Day movies as one of the houses here was the backdrop for several scenes - the one with the large German riding a donkey and getting berated by the French couple as the pre-invasion naval shelling begins.
Wn59 Ste-Honorine-des-Pertes was a small complex of machine gun posts, trenches, and Tobruks on the high cliffs to the west of the village and today features just a single concrete build - a Tobruk for a captured French Renault tank turret, although the path to it has now been closed off for safety reasons.
