This vehicle is somewhat of a hybrid. It started life as a turetless bulldozer tank but was modified during its restoration to a Centaur CS (Close Support) tank for display to honour the Royal Marine armoured support group who landed on the nearby Sword Beach sectors.
The graduation markings on the turret enabled an observer outside of the tank to give gun fire directions, by radio, to the tank crew who had a very limited view of combat.
This vehicle was in dire need of restoration but in early 2024 - in the run up to the D-Day 80th Anniversary - a partial restoration and complete re-paint was carried out to help protect it from the elements.
